Merriam-Webster definition: an unpleasant often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger
What is the most recent example of when you were afraid to do something - and then did it anyways?
Think: giving a presentation, learning a new skill or technology, having a 'crucial' conversation, athletic competition....
How did you feel before, during and after?
I keep a notebook of incidents when I have acted with fear as my co-pilot. As I am preparing to 'do it afraid' in a new situation, I revisit these stories and feel the feeling I had after the incident was complete.
That victorious buzz of successful accomplishment despite my trepidation allows me to go forward even while feeling the fear - super powerful and very comforting knowing that as in the past, I will come out on the other side of the valley of fear just fine and perhaps even stronger.
Today I challenge you to 'do it afraid' - then maximize the experience by recording how you felt before, during and after so you can access that energy when you do it afraid the next time!
